Bristol Comic Expo Review
SFX Magazine has written a glowing review of the recent comic expo held at Brunel’s Old Station describing it as a ‘wonderful’ event.According to writer Stacey Whittle, the ‘enormous railway shed’ of Brunel’s Old Station provides the perfect venue, both from a social and a professional aspect.
She says that the highlight of her weekend from a professional point of view was a panel called Strip For Action, a running commentary between two creators about how they breathed life into their newspaper strips over the years.
Other writers included Paul Cornell (Doctor Who; Action Comics), Mike Carey (X-Men: Legacy; The Unwritten) and David Hine (Civil War: X-Men; Spawn).
The layout of the Passenger Shed at Brunel’s makes it ideal for exhibitions and conferences. Furthermore Brunel’s Old Station was a perfect place to enjoy the social side of Bristol, and a few drinks after the convention, as it is so conveniently located in the heart of the city centre. That is why the Bristol Comic expo remains a focal point for comic fans in the South West.
She added: “I will also say it’s the most laid back, fun and relaxed convention I’ve been to in ages. I enjoyed myself so much it’s obliterated the slight convention fatigue I was feeling and made me excited about the future of the UK comic convention scene.”
