Charity Fundraising Frustrations?

Charitable giving has become a mainstream activity, which is no surprise with over 160,000 registered charities in England and Wales alone. Whenever people decide to run a marathon, or do something equally as physically strenuous, they are expected to raise money for a good cause. This is a wonderful thing to do, but sometimes repeatedly asking friends and relatives for donations can make the fundraiser feel guilty or uncomfortable. To avoid this, and to put the fun back into charity fundraising, why not spearhead an event- an exciting and effective way of raising much needed funds that is fun for all involved?

Here is a list of ideas and tips for you to consider:

Fashion Show

A festive fundraiser that combines entertainment and glamour! From finding the perfect venue and theme of the event to selecting a team of models to strut down the catwalk, a charity fashion show may require months of planning, hard work and a passion for fashion but is certainly worth it in the long run.

Charity Dinner Dance

An event of this sort takes a great deal of planning and careful financial management, so you will need to allow 6-12 months to plan it. If it is a success, it can be a real money-spinner and great PR. Try to set up a working group made up of three to five people who will each be responsible for selling tables and sourcing prizes. The working group will need a budget to work to, so one of the first things to do is to agree a breakdown of projected income, projected costs, and projected profit.

Charity Quiz Night

Get into the competitive spirit with your very own large scale pub quiz. Each team pays an entry fee and battles it out for a prize. The questions are easy to come by, and it can be a very exciting night if the teams contain some brainiacs and the scores are close! Make sure your venue is not too big to lose the atmosphere but big enough to fit about 150 people comfortably around tables, leaving enough room to get up and move around. Also allow for a quiz master's table and raffle prizes table. A second room for food distribution is ideal too.

Charity Fair
By incorporating multiple attractions, you can create the perfect fundraising day fair. Have different stalls such as a lucky dip, kissing booth, guess the number of sweets in a jar, fortune telling, face painting, bobbing for apples, or a tombola to create a fun-filled atmosphere in which people enjoy themselves while funding your cause.

Battle of the Bands

Every musician needs a stage to flourish so why don't you give it to them? There are loads of budding young rock stars in the making wherever your area, none more so than in Bristol. Create a night of music madness and charge people an entry fee - the punters will love it.

If you need medium to large sized spaces to host these fundraising enterprises, why not have a quick look at the facilities available at Brunel's Old Station, a venue that will compliment your fundraising vision.
