Searching for Valentine’s Day Perfection

Valentine's is an elusive day during the year when we search for perfection. What makes the perfect Valentine's event? In one word – romance.

But romance means different things to different people, which is why Valentine’s Day can make couples feel pressured. Some people may like flowers, chocolate and champagne, but it would be a generalisation to say that everyone does. However you could say for certain that what really matters to people is that their partners make an effort.

So take the time to think about what would really make your partner happy, whether that is something extravagant like a hot air balloon ride, or something more unusual like a fashion show or a vintage tea party.

Look for a venue that will go for all out decoration to really tug at the heartstrings in traditional Valentine’s Day fashion. Or choose to see a historic exhibition which regales you with a sense of romantic nostalgia.

Whichever event you plan make sure that you have thought about dinner. Venues will usually offer a special three course meal which includes champagne, chocolate and/or dessert. But even if you choose to eat somewhere else, be sure to book in advance – this is the busiest time of year for couples dining. The same goes for a trip to the cinema. The movie theatre is a tried and tested romantic destination so make sure you get your tickets early.
