4 Tips for Hosting the Perfect Awards Ceremony

At Brunelís Old Station we get a lot of requests for special events, everything from Asian weddings to live music concerts. One of the increasingly popular event requests is for award ceremonies, and with that in mind we decided to give potential customers advice on how to host the perfect awards night.

1) Plan Ahead

Awards ceremonies have legitimacy by allowing the general public to vote for their favourite nominee. For this to happen you need to get the voting forms out to them well in advance so that you can collate all their votes in time for the award ceremony.

2) Respected Judges

The best awards ceremonies let the public decide the shortlist, but then have the winners picked from the awards shortlist by a panel of judges. Getting experts in their field conveys even more legitimacy on the awards ceremony, and also gives an extra draw for attendance. For instance if you are having a food awards ceremony get judges who know a lot about food, whether they be food critics or food journalists. If they are celebrities (major or minor) all the better!

3) Hand Pick your Guest List

The guest list is crucial to a successful awards ceremony as you will want to have guests from relevant local institutions. Again using food awards as an example, invite owners of delis, restaurants and publicans. But also donít be afraid to sweep the net wide Ė after all everyone loves food!

4) Create Categories and Prizes

The best awards ceremonies reward lots of different types of businesses for their unique contributions. With that in mind you need to create various awards categories, and get prizes, or trophies, for all of your winners. This creates a healthy buzz about the event, allowing everyone to feel included, and in with a chance of winning.
