Spring Festival – Love Food

Sunshine and blue skies are finally here and what better way to celebrate the start of Spring than a food festival?

The Love Food Festival which takes place this weekend is a long established gastronomic tradition. The event organisers are excited about the 2012 edition, and pleased that they have chosen experienced festival venue Brunel’s Old Station for their biggest event of the year.

The Love Food Festival website states: “It's all systems go here at the moment. On Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1, we return to the stunning Brunel's Old Station for our annual extravaganza.”

Exciting chefs and cooking experts from all over the country will head to the West Country for an expansive celebration of culinary delights. They include 'The Fabulous Baker Brothers’ of Hobbs House Bakery and Channel 4 fame who will be headlining the cookery school.

Among the amazing food producers who will be represented are The Real Olive Company, Trealy Farm charcuterie and Thoughtful Bread. And with so much great food on offer the Love Wine area makes a perfect accompaniment to the palate and offers tasting classes throughout the day. Meanwhile, during the event a special Bristol Food Awards category with guest judges gives local food producers the chance to win prizes. The Bristol Good Food Awards is sponsored by Almondsbury Garden Centre, which proudly helps local producers to grow their own food.

As part of the food festival there is a Love Book library area with storytelling, talks and book signings. There is also plenty to entertain any youngsters with a full playground area and activities such as face painting, an Easter egg hunt and free cookery lessons. The Love Food Festival costs £2.50 to enter, with concessions at £1.50 and is free for children.

The festival organiser Lorna Knapman said: "I'm very much looking forward to welcoming everyone to our Spring Festival. We’re pulling out the stops to bring you an exceptional Bristol event, showcasing all the things that make our city so fantastic, so come along and join in the celebrations!"
